Personal Project - The Sisyphus' Room

The Sisyphus' Room is a first-person adventure game based on the French folktale, Bluebeard. As Bluebeard's wife, Joan, you explore the world with a desire to break free from your old life, but your curiosity leads you astray. Investigate rooms, solve puzzles, and collect items to pave the way to the forbidden room, where the house's darkest curse awaits.

Game Mechanics:

The game combines exploration and riddle-solving. Players must decipher clues to locate items within the game world. For instance, a riddle for getting the apple is:

“The wisdom inside your heart, 

is always with you at the start, 

Where is it, can you tell it apart, 

from a bunch of little jars.” 

As we know, the apple is a symbol of wisdom. And the fourth line suggests that it can be found inside a jar on one of the library's bookshelves.

Symbols:

Symbols are used throughout the game to provide players with insights into the protagonist's life. These hidden messages hint at the game's themes and the protagonist's character, allowing players to delve deeper into the story beyond the surface. For instance, the birdcage in the bedroom holds a message that reflects the protagonist's loneliness and desire for freedom. Every item in the game serves a purpose and holds symbolic significance, such as:

Inventory System:

Players can collect items throughout the game, which are stored in the inventory system located in the upper left corner of the screen. You can press the "F" key on the keyboard collects the item and displays its icon in the inventory panel. Once collected, the item model disappears, and its corresponding icon appears in the inventory panel. To use an item, simply left-click its icon.
